At first when I saw that Miguel did a cover of one of the most coveted songs in pub history, I had a weird twitch in my eye & kinda cocked my head to the side. But now that I’ve listened to the song 3 times, I appreciate what Miguel has done. I’m one who loves an original & I feel that remakes don’t ever triumph the original. In this case, Miguel & Wale did a great effort. It’s 2014 so everything weird is sexy.
This remake comes as we approach the 40th anniversary of Elton John’s successful Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which is March 25th. & to celebrate this milestone, a reissue of the album will drop along with some remakes by John Grant, The Band Perry, Fall Out Boy, Hunter Hayes, the Zac Brown Band, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, Imelda May and of course, Miguel & Wale.
